My Story
I grew up in the country. I walked the 2 miles to grammar school by cutting through apple orchards and fields of buttercups and dandelions. My college days at NYU began my love affair with cities: first New York, then San Francisco, and, finally, Los Angeles. As producer/director and writer I spent twenty three years in television and motion pictures. But, like everything else, that world changed greatly over those years and both my husband, Ernie, and I wanted out.
We bought land in Mendocino County in 1981 and then began planning our "escape from L.A." Eight years later we left our careers in commercial television to move to the Anderson Valley (the view from our house is pictured at right). I understand the "rat race" and what it takes to achieve a more peaceful and fulfilling lifestyle. Since my association with Mendo Realty in 1990 I've been helping others realize their dreams: owning a business on the Coast, locating an ideal parcel for a small vineyard, finding that perfect cottage for future retirement, or just watching the waves from an oceanfront home. I'd be happy to give you a tour of our beautiful coastal and valley locations and help you decide if Mendocino County is right for you.
Coming to Mendocino County signals a whole new lifestyle. I (pictured with wonder dog, Zoe) have been able to devote time to various charitable organizations, like the Little League, and by serving on the Boards of Directors for the Mendocino Theater Company, The Mendocino Music Festival, and the Anderson Valley Health Center. I know what it means to take a piece of vacant land and create a home out of wood and pipes and wires. My husband built our house with his own hands (no previous experience) and I was the contractor. I understand the need to dig in the dirt; sleep soundly without locking the doors; and look forward to long, languid summer afternoons in the garden. I have made friends that are more family than acquaintance. I know what it means to savor a meal for hours with heady conversation about the condition of the well or the prospect of a good tomato crop.
